MARC-ANDRÉ COMEAU - BACKGROUND
Marc-André Comeau is president and founder of M.A. Comeau Consultant Inc., a company focused on energy management and process optimization.
Marc-André is an industrial engineer with a master’s degree in engineering focused on energy conversion. For over 25 years, he accumulated a unique blend of knowledge, skills and experience which allows him to provide his clients with sound advice and recommendations on topics such as energy management, process optimization and sustainable development.
Marc-André started his career as a plant engineer for a large industrial printing company with facilities across Canada. Wanting to specialize in energy management, he returned to university to complete his master's which later led him to a teaching position with the New Brunswick Community College where he developed and taught courses for the Power Engineering Technology and the Building Engineering Technology programs. Five years later, he returned to the private sector and became energy manager for Noranda Mining where he was instrumental in reducing the energy cost of one of their largest mine by over $1 million/yr.
He also worked as an energy marketer and as a development engineer (power production projects) with Brascan Power (now Brookfield Renewable Power) before becoming director of energy services for SNC Lavalin O&M. During that time, Marc-André led the energy service group which was responsible for utility bill verification, data processing, and energy management services. He was also in charge of the corporate retro-commissioning team which performed numerous audits mainly for large buildings in Ontario. He then accepted a position with ICF Marbek as manager where he performed multiples energy assessments and audits and assisted in the development of energy plans for such industrial facilities as food, textile and furniture manufactures as well as pulp & paper plants, upstream oil & gas facilities, steel plants and others.
Another area in which Marc-André has been actively involved is the deployment, support and evaluation of Energy Incentive Programs such as:
• Northern Industrial Electricity Rate Program (NIERP) - Ministry of Northern Development and Mines of Ontario.
• Hydro-Québec's PADIGE or "Programme d’analyse et de démonstrations industrielles – Grandes entreprises".
• Industrial Energy Optimization Program (IEOP) - SaskPower.
• Industrial Energy Innovators (IEI) - Ontario Power Authority.
Marc-André is also an instructor for the "Dollars to $ense" workshops offered by the ministry of Natural Resources Canada.
